Dear Membership,

I hope you all had a relaxing (if not HOT) summer! I think we’re all ready for Fall to start! I wanted to take this opportunity to introduce myself.

I started volunteering with the Corona Library Foundation back in 2012. I primarily helped with Ladders & Linguine for a few years.  The Foundation dissolved and a few of us moved over to The Friends of the Library.  Since 2016, I’ve served as Member-at-Large with fundraisers, then with Community Outreach then became Vice President six years ago. I just became President on August 3^rd at our Annual Meeting, and I’m thrilled with this new opportunity.

With this new position, comes new challenges.  Firstly, we are at a time when our city’s budgets are shrinking. We’ve been told that Community Services Departments have been asked to reduce their budgets.  We, The Friends of the Library, hope we can support our amazing Library a bit more over the next few years.

The Library is an extremely busy place.  Rooms are used around the clock, and we may be using different rooms throughout the Library for our Friends’ events. We hope to effectively work through the city’s budget cuts with our Library Manager, Daniell Whittington and new Interim Community Services Director, Rebekah Kramer.  If you’d like more information about the collaboration between The City and The Friends, please join us at any Friends’ Board Meeting, held the second Tuesday of each month at 5 pm downstairs in the Library Board Room.
