The Friends’ BookShop was founded by energetic volunteers in 1993 who were looking for a way to raise funds for the Library and serve the community. Our community continues to generously donate an amazing number of books and other materials which are sorted, priced and then sold back to the community at very reasonable prices. Our large wooden donation box is right inside the Library. However, if the donated book is needed for the stacks in the Library it lands there first. BookShop sales generate between $90,000 and $100,000 per year allowing us to help the Library fund programs services and new books.

The Friends’ BookShop sells a variety of used books including hardcover current bestsellers, paperbacks, classic literature and collectible books. Many genres are available including mysteries, children’s books, romances, home and garden, cookbooks, textbooks, history, health and fitness as well as DVDs, CDs and audio books.

As the BookShop celebrates its 32nd anniversary, we would like to encourage you to become a Friend of the Corona Public Library. Check out the membership tab on this website.

Here is another way for our BookShop customers and Friends’ members to help the Friends and the Library.

We encourage you to register your Ralph’s rewards card online at www.ralphs.com.  Purchases will begin counting towards our organization within 72 hours of registration. Every time you shop and swipe your card, the Friends automatically gets a percentage of your sale.

Convenient, step by step instructions are on the website.  Scroll to the bottom of the “Home” page under “Community” you will click on “Ralphs Community Rewards”.  Then follow directions to enroll.  It will ask you which organization you want the rewards to go to, and they are listed alphabetically.  We are, of course, Friends of the Corona Library.  Thanks for your donations.

Long-term Volunteer Opportunities

To join long-term volunteer opportunities for the Community Services Department, you must first attend an orientation. Orientations are typically held on the third Monday of the month at 6:30 pm in the Corona Public Library’s Frances Aldama Martinez Community Rooms.

Please note: All prospective volunteers must pass a background check, including those under 18. This process can take 4-6 weeks. Please plan ahead. The City of Corona cannot accept court-referred or school-mandated volunteers who need to complete their hours to meet disciplinary requirements.
